Kitchen Staff - Long Term Care

Part Time Dietary Aides & Cooks

Must be available to work 6AM - 2PM, 7AM - 3PM or 12PM - 8PM as needed

Dietary Aide Job Summary

The Dietary Aide assists with preparing and serving meals and snacks, maintaining a clean, safe environment, and ensuring that all service ware is cleaned and sanitized following each meal.

Essential Functions

• Assists with portioning of cold food items and beverages.
• Prepares and labels between meal snacks and delivers nourishment kitchen stock.
• Assists with meal set up and delivery.
• Washes and sanitizes all service ware using infection control procedures.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Follows assigned cleaning schedule.
• Complies with established food handling regulations including dietary policies and procedures, local health department instructions, and federal standards.
• Works cooperatively with dietary staff and other Center personnel.
• Reports safety and equipment issues to the Director, Maintenance Director, or Administrator.
• Fulfills in-service training requirements in a timely manner using Silver Chair program.
• Attends in-service, department, or Center meetings as directed.
• Treats residents, staff, and visitors with respect.
• Reports illness and symptoms to Director of Dietary Services promptly.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Cook Job Summary

A Cook is responsible for handling and preparing food in accordance with approved menus, recipes, and sanitation standards. The employee oversees the work of other dietary personnel and may assume additional responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Dietary Services or the Dietary Supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Prepares or directs preparation of food served in the Center.
• Follows recipes, menus, and production sheets to ensure a quality product.
• Works cooperatively with dietary staff and other Center personnel.
• Complies with established food handling regulations including dietary policies and procedures, local health department instructions, and federal standards.
• Monitors and records food temperatures throughout the food preparation process including storage, cooking, holding, and serving.
• Maintains a clean working environment.
• Reports safety and equipment issues to the Director, Maintenance Director, or Administrator.
• Assists Director with purchasing, storage, or inventory as directed.
• Assists Director with maintaining electronic meal service information as directed.
• Attends in-service, department, or Center meetings as directed.
• Treats residents and staff with respect and patience.
• Reports illness and symptoms to Director of Dietary Services promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Dietary Aide Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with food preparation preferred.
• Able to understand and follow directions.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Dietary Aide Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing, bending, stooping, and stretching
• Ability to push, pull, move, or lift a minimum of 25 pounds.

Cook Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with food preparation.
• Demonstrated cooking skills and ability to follow menus and recipes.
• Able to work well with others.
• Must be flexible, detail-orientation, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and be able to make effective decisions and work as part of a service excellence team.

Cook Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
