Job Summary A Computer Teacher must be a born‑again Christian, committed to living a biblical lifestyle and called by God to teach at Harvest School. This position teaches computer science, such as the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher), function of computers and research analysis to elementary level students. In addition, the Computer Teacher teaches, plans, directs and coordinates student activities to achieve academic, social, physical and spiritual wholeness. This position requires an individual to be dependable, friendly and organized, with the ability to relate well with children, parents, school staff and volunteers; and have the ability to type 30 words per minute. They teach with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promotes Harvest’s culture, values and mission. Responsibilities Maintain a positive Christian atmosphere in the computer lab. Demonstrate a Christ‑like and positive professional attitude toward students; treat students with respect and remain objective when dealing in student matters. Prepare computer lab activities to encourage student participation and improve technical skills, typing and keyboarding techniques, using various teaching and motivation techniques. Plan, evaluate, revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods and demonstrations. Establish clear objectives for all lessons and projects; communicate those objectives to students. Provide a variety of resources topics for students to explore and use during lab activities. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs, abilities, personalities and interests, while supervising their lab work and prioritizing multiple tasks. Organize computer lab efficiently to meet the educational and physical needs of students. Attend to student needs by walking around the computer lab and responding to raised hands. Provide additional time beyond the regular daily schedule for students in need of assistance. Test incoming students’ computer skill and knowledge for grades 1 st – 6 th. Work closely with Technology Specialist to maintain computer lab. Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records. Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among students, faculty and parents. Provide students positive feedback to encourage and help them develop an appreciation for academic achievement, physical education and spiritual growth. Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks. Establish and enforce behavior rules and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible, always placing students’ health and safety first. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs. Communicate with parents, volunteers and other external sources by communicating in person, in writing, by telephone or e‑mail, and represent Harvest in a positive manner. Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with staff and maintain them over time. Maintain a professional behavior in accordance with the Teacher Manual and Harvest Christian Fellowship Employee Manual, and a willingness to follow school’s policies and procedures. Accept change in a positive Christ‑like and professional manner, such as implementing new programs and policies, a willingness to accept decisions made by others, etc. Accept evaluation and redirection and makes necessary changes or adjustments. Remain current in the Information Technology field. Physical requirements, with or without accommodation, include: prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, handling materials, keyboard typing, hand motion, foot motion, looking at a computer screen, and telephone communication.
