Staff Software Engineer, Search Experience At Realtor.com®, the Search Results Page (SRP) is our most critical engine—it’s where millions of users make life‑changing decisions. We are looking for a Staff Engineer to serve as a technical anchor for our Search Experience team, driving the architectural evolution of our highest‑traffic consumer surfaces. The Role As a Staff Engineer, you won't just write code; you will define the technical standards for how we deliver search results at scale. You will balance hands‑on development with high‑level system design, ensuring our frontend and backend systems are resilient, performant, and SEO‑dominant. Architectural Leadership: Own the end‑to‑end architecture of our React/Next.js frontend and Node.js/GraphQL microservices. Performance at Scale: Drive initiatives to optimize Core Web Vitals and SSR strategies. In a high‑velocity environment, you ensure our SERP remains the fastest in the industry. AI Strategy & Governance: Lead the integration of AI coding assistants and LLMs into the SDLC. You are responsible for the "human‑in‑the‑loop" verification of AI‑generated code regarding security, performance, and long‑term maintainability. Cross‑Functional Influence: Partner with Product, Data Science, and Design to operationalize machine‑learning models and predictive analytics into the user experience. About You Technical Mastery: 10+ years of experience (8+ in modern stacks) with a deep focus on SEO‑friendly React architectures and distributed systems. Systems Thinker: Experience in cloud‑native design (AWS EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3) and modern data pipelines is an asset. You know how to build for "the next 10x" of traffic. Operational Excellence: Deep understanding of automated deployment, instant provisioning, and building a developer toolchain that minimizes friction. Mentorship & Culture: A natural leader who raises the bar for the entire engineering organization through code reviews, RFCs, and a growth‑oriented mindset. Data‑Driven: Professional experience implementing complex A/B testing frameworks and deriving actionable insights from high‑volume traffic data.
