Power BI Developer

Role Description

Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) is seeking an experienced, hands-on Power BI Developer with strong data engineering expertise. This role will design and build Power Apps applications, Power Automate workflows, and Power BI solutions using governed Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) data assets, including the Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW). The role will also develop the data pipelines and models that support these solutions.

• Own solutions end-to-end, including data modeling, ingestion and transformation logic, application and report development, and ALM governance.
• Ensure deliverables are maintainable, performant, and compliant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
• 4–6 years building solutions with the Microsoft Power Platform.
• Demonstrated Power Apps development: Dataverse modeling, screen/form design, Power Fx logic, and data connections.
• Demonstrated Power Automate development: cloud flows using connectors, expressions, and error handling.
• Demonstrated Power BI development: data modeling, DAX, Power Query (M), refresh, and report/dashboard delivery.
• Hands-on data engineering experience: building ETL/ELT or data pipelines, data modeling, and working with structured and semi-structured data.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and proficiency in SQL.
• Working knowledge of Power Platform data connectivity.
• Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data quality practices.
• Experience supporting business process engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within cross-functional teams.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorship.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust.

Requirements

• Design, build, and deploy canvas and model-driven Power Apps.
• Architect Dataverse as the application data backbone.
• Connect apps to Dataverse, SharePoint, SQL Server/Azure SQL, and the CDW.
• Build responsive, accessible screens, forms, and views.
• Develop reusable components, component libraries, and PCF controls.
• Apply ALM and Power Platform governance.
• Optimize app performance and harden apps with appropriate security and DLP policies.
• Build and maintain cloud flows to automate data movement and process hand-offs.
• Implement desktop flows / RPA where appropriate.
• Design flows for reliability and observability.
• Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models.
• Author robust data models with star-schema design.
• Configure row-level security, gateways, refresh schedules, and workspace/app deployment.
• Tune model and report performance.
• Build certified, reusable datasets and shared semantic models.
• Design and build ingestion and transformation pipelines (ETL/ELT).
• Develop and maintain Power Platform dataflows, Azure Data Factory, and/or SSIS pipelines.
• Implement performant data connectivity.
• Build data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks into pipelines.
• Apply CI/CD and source control to data assets.
• Work directly with VA/VHA clinical, operational, financial, and administrative data sources.
• Partner with VA/VHA stakeholders to elicit data, process, and application requirements.
• Map current-state and future-state processes.
• Translate business questions and operational needs into data models, app/flow designs, and report requirements.
• Document the logic behind delivered solutions for reuse, governance, and audit readiness.
• Maintain data dictionaries, source-to-target mappings, and data lineage.
• Support data governance and compliance.
• Contribute reusable app, flow, model, and pipeline patterns.
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery tooling, efficiency, and governance.
• Support Agile or hybrid delivery.

Compensation & Benefits

The posted salary range is the company’s good-faith estimate for this role: $100,000 - $130,000. PFS benefits and compensation are determined by various factors, including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and organizational requirements.
