Field Service Technician-Switchgear, ATS, PDU (Maryland, Virginia) Hanover, United States | Posted on 06/17/2025 The Field ServiceTechnician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, andrepair of power distribution equipment including Automatic Transfer Switches(ATS), Power Distribution Units (PDU), and Remote Power Panels (RPP). Responsibilities Perform field-based serviceactivities including installation, preventive maintenance, diagnostics,and repair of ATS, PDU, and RPP systems. Support startup and commissioningof new equipment, ensuring proper integration and operational performance. Troubleshoot and resolveequipment malfunctions using electrical schematics, diagnostic software,and technical documentation. Maintain accurate servicedocumentation, including service orders, test reports, parts usage, andsafety records. Communicate effectively withcustomers onsite to explain findings, recommend solutions, and identifyopportunities for service improvements or upgrades. Collaborate with Engineering,Manufacturing, and Sales to provide technical feedback and supportcontinuous improvement. Ensure strict compliance withOSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety procedures at all times. Participate in training andcertification programs to maintain technical proficiency and productknowledge. Requirements Required Qualifications Basic to advanced understandingof low and medium voltage power systems and components. Ability to read and interpretelectrical one-line diagrams and schematic drawings. Proficient in the use of testequipment and diagnostic tools for power systems. Strong organizational andcommunication skills; ability to manage service assignments independentlyor as part of a team. Willingness to travel regularly(domestic and occasional international), including overnight stays. Valid U.S. driver’s license andability to maintain a clean driving record. Capable of lifting and movingequipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications Technical certification, militarytraining, or associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, orrelated field. Experience with OEM systemsincluding Russelectric, ASCO, GE/ABB, or CAT-ISO. Prior experience in field serviceenvironments and/or data center infrastructure. Familiarity with SCADA systemsand communication protocols. Ability to independently performATS, PDU, and RPP startups, including firmware upgrades and systemcalibration. CPR, First Aid, and PPEcertification (or willingness to complete).
