Physician Assistant

Position Title: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Location: Oceanside, CA 92058 Position Type: Full-time federal healthcare contract (long-term, average 1-3 years or more) Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday Shift: 8- or 10-hour shifts scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.; typical clinical hours are 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. On-Call: None The position may be filled by either a qualified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant . The provider will support patients at the Camp Pendleton Intrepid Spirit Center, which delivers interdisciplinary care for service members and beneficiaries affected by traumatic brain injury, neurological conditions, behavioral health concerns, and related medical conditions. Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise satisfy the contract’s authorization-to-work requirements. Post-master’s certificate, master’s degree, or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner. Graduate of a professional nursing program accredited by: Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Current, full, active, and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner/APRN license from any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Current national Nurse Practitioner board certification through: American Nurses Credentialing Center, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board, or Another nationally recognized certifying body in the provider’s clinical specialty. Current Basic Life Support certification. At least two years of direct patient-care experience within the previous five years while privileged as a Nurse Practitioner . DEA registration is required when prescribing controlled substances. Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise satisfy the contract’s authorization-to-work requirements. One of the following: Master’s degree from an ARC-PA-accredited Physician Assistant program, or Master’s degree in any discipline, or a bachelor’s degree as a Physician Assistant, with successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination. Specialty Physician Assistants may be required to have completed at least 12 months of acceptable residency or fellowship training in the applicable medical specialty. Current NCCPA certification and PA-C designation. Current, full, active, and unrestricted Physician Assistant license from any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. DEA registration is required when prescribing controlled substances. Duties and responsibilities: The provider will: Provide primary, specialized, acute, and problem-oriented healthcare services. Assess acute and non-acute medical problems. Obtain and document comprehensive and problem-focused medical histories. Perform physical examinations and interpret normal and abnormal findings. Formulate differential and working diagnoses. Order and interpret laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging, including: X-rays, CT scans, Bone scans, and Other clinically appropriate diagnostic studies. Diagnose and treat patients within the provider’s credentials and clinical privileges. Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise treatment plans. Prescribe medications and initiate emergency care when appropriate. Make referrals to physicians, specialists, ancillary departments, and other healthcare resources. Manage high-risk, unstable, or medically complex patients in collaboration with physicians. Collaborate with multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Evaluate patient-care delivery systems and identify barriers to safe and effective care. Participate in evidence-based practice, population-health management, and clinical quality-improvement activities. Provide in-person and telephone consultations to physicians, advanced-practice providers, and other healthcare professionals. Assist with the training of interns, residents, fellows, nurses, providers, and other healthcare personnel. Maintain competency in: MHS GENESIS, Dragon dictation software, and Microsoft Office. Complete clinical documentation accurately and according to military treatment facility standards. Document and close notes in MHS GENESIS within three business days of patient encounters. Respond to beneficiary portal messages within one business day. Comply with military treatment facility, Joint Commission, peer-review, utilization-management, and quality requirements. #J-18808-Ljbffr
