Maintenance Supervisor

Our client, an established industrial manufacturer, is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead plant maintenance activities and support safe, reliable production. The Maintenance Supervisor will direct the repair, maintenance, and installation of production equipment, plant utilities, tools, and facility systems. This person will establish work priorities, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, develop maintenance employees, and partner with production and engineering to improve equipment performance. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands industrial equipment and can balance urgent repairs with the long-term maintenance practices needed to reduce downtime and strengthen reliability. The Environment The facility operates in a production-focused manufacturing environment where equipment reliability directly affects safety, quality, output, and customer delivery. The Maintenance Supervisor will lead maintenance technicians while working closely with production, engineering, quality, and plant leadership. The role requires regular time on the plant floor, effective coordination during equipment issues, and a structured approach to work planning and preventive maintenance. Key Focus Areas Lead the daily activities of the plant maintenance team. Review work orders and establish repair, maintenance, and installation priorities. Schedule maintenance activities to support continuous production operations. Coordinate troubleshooting and repair of machinery, tools, equipment, and facility systems. Develop and strengthen preventive maintenance programs with engineering and maintenance personnel. Inspect operating equipment to ensure it meets safety and performance standards. Review production, quality, and maintenance reports to identify reliability concerns and adjust maintenance plans. Partner with production leaders to prioritize equipment issues and minimize disruption. Coordinate the fabrication or modification of equipment needed to improve existing processes or support new products. Manage maintenance activities involving plant utility systems, including electrical power, compressed air, gas, heat, and related services. Recommend new methods and procedures that improve reliability, reduce operating costs, and increase the use of labor and materials. Work with engineering on equipment requirements, modifications, and installation needs. Ensure technicians have the tools, parts, equipment, and supplies required to complete their work. Train, coach, and develop maintenance employees. Assign work, monitor performance, provide feedback, and address employee concerns. Maintain clear documentation related to repairs, inspections, preventive maintenance, and equipment condition. Support compliance with plant safety policies, technical procedures, and applicable regulations. Candidate Profile Eight to ten years of industrial maintenance experience, including maintenance leadership or supervisory responsibilities. Associate degree in industrial maintenance, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and directly relevant experience may be considered. Technical or vocational school training is preferred. Experience maintaining production machinery and plant utility systems in an industrial environment. Experience planning and scheduling preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and develop maintenance technicians. Experience assigning work, evaluating performance, and addressing employee or team issues. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, equipment manuals, technical instructions, procedures, and regulations. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to collect information, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions. Experience working with production, engineering, quality, and plant leadership. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work near moving mechanical equipment and in an active manufacturing environment. Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or work in other positions required to inspect and support equipment.
