Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac/Telemetry Stepdown (7N) position at an acute care facility in West Virginia, requiring drip titration skills and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting, Level II Trauma Center
• 29-bed Cardiac/Telemetry Stepdown unit (7N Cardiopulmonary)
• Patient population includes cardiac patients, post-cath, AMI, post-PCI, post-op lung surgeries (after CCU), respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, and CR bands — no sheath pulls or arterial lines
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6
• CNA support available; typically 3 CNAs on days, 2 on nights (roughly 1 CNA per 12 patients)
• Charge nurse available 24/7; day charge does not carry a patient assignment, night charge does
• Occasional cardiac drips with titration including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro (up to 50 mcg)
• CPAP and BiPap present on unit; managed by Respiratory Therapy
• Telemetry via Philips monitors; RNs are required to read and interpret their own strips
• EMR: Epic (used on unit)
• 13-week contract, 36 hours per week
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every-other-weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday)
• Floating to other Med/Surg Tele units may be required

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must have experience titrating IV drips (cardiac and vasoactive gtts)
• Telemetry strip reading and interpretation skills required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• 2 professional references required (1 supervisor, 1 peer or additional supervisor); supervisor reference must be from any permanent facility worked within the last 12 months
• Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• EKG testing (pass/fail) is required for this Stepdown unit at this facility
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a minimum 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU Medicine system for more than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• Holiday rotation is shared with permanent staff
• Royal blue scrubs required
• No artificial nails permitted
