Clinical Care Technician (Per Diem) - Transplant Unit

Schedule Per diem position. After training, requires a minimum of 4 shifts per month on day, night, weekend, or holiday rotation. Job Profile Summary This role focuses on providing professional and non‑professional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. The candidate will perform nursing support duties such as basic patient care, work under the direction of physicians, mid‑level practitioners, and registered nurses, and will use specialized knowledge gained through vocational education, training, and experience. Job Overview The Clinical Care Technician works under the supervision of a professional nurse and collaborates to meet patient needs. The technician assists in direct patient care, provides environmental support, and facilitates patient safety on designated and other units as needed. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Preferred Qualifications Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA). Completion of Nursing Fundamentals in an accredited nursing program. One year of related experience as a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Assistant, Critical Care Tech, or Patient Care Tech. Acute care experience. Duties and Responsibilities Assist the professional registered nurse in functional care of patients. Help patients with activities of daily living in a safe, efficient, and respectful manner. Greet patients, families, visitors, and staff according to service standards. Collect, record, and communicate patient clinical data to the assigned nurse. Prepare rooms for admission, transfer, or discharge, ensuring equipment readiness. Transport or accompany patients as necessary to other areas of the hospital. Provide comfort measures such as positioning, linen changes, and back rubs. Assist with mobility and range‑of‑motion exercises as assigned. Set up for procedures requested by nursing or medical staff. Clean and discard used equipment and supplies after procedures. Collect specimens and perform specimen testing, maintaining standard precautions. Maintain care of biomedical equipment, checking par levels and ensuring proper function. Clean wounds and apply dressings after assessment by a nurse. Perform 12‑lead EKG and connect monitoring equipment under nurse direction. Care for patient belongings and complete belongings lists. Prime intravenous tubing with solution containing no medication. Document admission, transfer, and discharge tasks as requested by the nurse. Answer call lights and seek appropriate action, performing hourly rounding per guidelines. Physical Requirements Lift up to 30–35 lbs and turn patients; prolonged standing and walking. Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting. Manual dexterity for fine hand manipulation and computer use. Ability to see computer screen and reports. Skills & Abilities Read, write, and comprehend medical terminology. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Maintain confidentiality with detailed material. Basic computer experience.
