Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the ICU will provide care for complex ICU patients, including those with surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma needs. This position requires management of acuity-dependent work, utilizing strong critical thinking and assessment skills.

Responsibilities:

• Provide intensive care to a range of patients including those with ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, and post-surgical needs.
• Manage and administer IV medications such as vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics.
• Maintain and manage ventilators, hemodynamic lines, and telemetry.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team and act comfortably in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required.
• Completion of a recognized nursing program and valid South Dakota RN license.
• Experience with Epic and comfortability with 48-hour/week contract.
• Preferred skills: Impella, IABP, CRRT, and experience in similar patient care settings.

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
