Custodian

Position Summary: Keeps building in clean and orderly condition and tends furnace, air conditioner, and broiler to provide heat, cool air, and hot water. This job description is illustrative only of the responsibilities performed by this position and is not all inclusive. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums, hallways, bathrooms and office space. Empties inside trash containers daily; empty outside garbage containers weekly. Refills toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soap daily. Wash toilet stalls weekly. Wash water fountains twice weekly.Maintains area outside of building, including cleaning snow and debris from sidewalk. Replaces light bulbs Moves furniture and hauls equipment as necessary. Repairs minor damages to walls, doors, floors, and ceilings. Washes windows. Cleans walls. Locks and closes building in the evening; ensures all appliances, lights, air conditioning, or heater are turned off. Arranges rooms for meetings. Assist in cleaning and arranging for meetings in order building. Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing related results as required. Checks fire equipment and coordinates inspections of outdated extinguishers. Able to recognize safety hazards and reports to supervisor. Informs supervisor of major repairs required to center building. Maintains a professional and positive attitude with staff. Attends training to improve job skills. Performs other duties as assigned. Stripping floors, waxing, and buffing floors. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Capacity to write routine reports. Aptitude to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Capacity to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization as well as outside vendors. Know-how-to operate cleaning machinery. Minimum Qualifications: Must have a High School Diploma or GED, plus two years custodial experience or equivalent combination of education or experience. Must have a valid New Mexico Driver's License and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance carrier. Must not have any DWI/DUI convictions within a five (5) year timeframe from any Tribal, State, or Federal Court. Must pass a background check. Must successfully complete the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Awareness Training that is required by the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) and the FBI policies within 6 month of employment (SCPGC Requirement). Physical Requirements and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to walk and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
