Ophthalmic Technician

Job Summary

A well-established eye care practice is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician. In this role, you will collaborate directly with ophthalmologists to perform initial patient assessments and assist during surgical procedures. This position plays a key part in maintaining smooth daily operations while delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms.
• Take patient histories, including chief complaint, ocular/medical history, medications, and allergies.
• Check visual acuity, including distance, near, and pinhole.
• Perform preliminary tests before the doctor exam.
• Support in auto-refraction and manual refraction.
• Conduct tonometry to check eye pressure.
• Carry out visual field testing.
• Handle OCT, fundus photography, and corneal topography.
• Perform keratometry and lensometry.
• Test color vision and depth perception.
• Set up and clean exam rooms between patients.
• Assist during exams and minor in-office procedures.
• Scribe for the doctor in the EHR, charting findings and plans.
• Prepare patients for dilation and instill drops, if permitted.

Qualifications

• Manual refracting experience required.
• 1+ year of Op Tech experience.

Schedule

M-F 9AM-5PM (until the last patient is complete) with one late night per month from 12pm-8pm.
