WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The Kuukpik Hotel Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day operation of the hotel and restaurant, ensuring guests receive safe, comfortable accommodations and consistently high-quality service. This position oversees hotel and restaurant staff, guest services, facility readiness, vendor relationships, financial performance, and compliance with company policies and applicable requirements. The Hotel Manager promotes an efficient, welcoming, and service-focused environment while supporting the hotel’s operational and business objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees all hotel operations to ensure efficient service delivery, a positive guest experience, and alignment with the approved business plan and budget.
  • Maintains a visible presence throughout the hotel and ensures guests are welcomed and assisted in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Responds to guest questions, concerns, complaints, special requests, and accommodation needs, resolving issues promptly and appropriately.
  • Monitors reservations, occupancy, room availability, and operational priorities to support effective staffing and use of hotel resources.
  • Conducts routine inspections of guest rooms, common areas, grounds, equipment, and workspaces to verify cleanliness, safety, appearance, and compliance with established standards.
  • Coordinates preventive maintenance and repairs, communicates service needs, and follows through to ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
  • Maintains accurate records and prepares reports related to occupancy, revenue, expenses, staffing, incidents, maintenance, inventory, and other operational activities.
  • Monitors hotel supplies, furnishings, and equipment and coordinates purchasing, receiving, storage, and inventory control.
  • Establishes and maintains productive relationships with suppliers, contractors, travel coordinators, corporate clients, event planners, and other business partners.
  • Ensures hotel operations comply with company policies, health and safety practices, emergency procedures, and applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
  • Responds appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and after-hours operational concerns and ensures required notifications and documentation are completed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interviews, hires, trains, schedules, and supervises hotel staff in accordance with established policies and staffing needs.
  • Directs daily hotel operations, assigns work, monitors performance, and ensures adequate coverage for guest and operational needs.
  • Provides employees with clear expectations, ongoing coaching, and timely, constructive performance feedback.
  • Addresses employee concerns and administers corrective action, up to and including termination, in consultation with Human Resources and in accordance with company policy.
  • Promotes a respectful, accountable, safety-conscious, and service-oriented work environment.

COMPETENCIES

REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interactions with guests, employees, vendors, and partners.
  • Strong interpersonal, hospitality, and customer-service skills, including the ability to resolve concerns calmly and professionally.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to set expectations, build accountability, and support employee development.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to respond effectively to operational issues and emergencies.
  • Working knowledge of hotel operations, guest services, housekeeping, facilities coordination, and hospitality-industry practices; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn hotel-management and reservation systems.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods and to move through guest rooms, common areas, offices, and other hotel facilities.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other standard office and hotel equipment for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to respond to operational needs throughout the hotel, including occasional bending, reaching, and climbing stairs.
