Staff Software Engineer - Teamfight Tactics, Mobile

As a Staff Software Engineer, Mobile (C++ / Unreal) on the Teamfight Tactics team, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, artists, designers, QA, and other partners to build and support key areas of the game, with a particular focus on iOS and Android. You will primarily work in C++, while applying your native iOS and/or Android expertise to develop features, diagnose complex mobile-specific issues, and resolve engine and platform problems impacting the player experience. You will also help shape technical direction and engineering practices for mobile development across the team. You will report to an Engineering Manager on the CoreTech team.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain C++ systems and features supporting our game on mobile platforms.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues spanning game code, Unreal Engine, native mobile platforms, and platform-specific integrations.
• Partner with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality features and experiences for players on iOS and Android.
• Provide technical leadership for mobile engineering, helping drive architectural decisions and solutions to complex or ambiguous technical problems.
• Influence engineering best practices within and beyond the team, including technical design reviews, coding standards, code reviews, tooling, testing, and build and deployment processes.
• Improve the performance, stability, reliability, and maintainability of the mobile game experience.
• Develop sustainable solutions that improve the health of the codebase and leave systems better than you found them.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical partners to understand requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, and deliver effective solutions.
• Mentor engineers and help raise the technical capabilities of the broader team.
• Participate in the team's on-call and support rotation.

Required Qualifications: 

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience in mobile, game development, or related fields.
• Significant professional experience developing and debugging native applications or systems on iOS and/or Android.
• Strong proficiency with C++, including experience using C++ in a mobile, game, or performance-sensitive environment.
• Experience diagnosing complex issues that cross application, engine, platform, and native-code boundaries.
• Experience debugging, profiling, and optimizing mobile applications or games, including performance, memory, stability, and device-specific issues.
• Experience working with a game engine such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, make architectural decisions, and solve complex problems with broad or ambiguous requirements.
• Experience collaborating across disciplines such as Engineering, Design, Art, QA, and Production.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teams distributed across multiple time zones.
• Product sense, pragmatism, and player empathy when making technical decisions.
• Familiarity with iterative development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or equivalent development practices.
• BS in Computer Science, or proven understanding of Computer Science fundamentals

Desired Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Teamfight Tactics.
• Deep expertise in native iOS and/or Android development, including platform APIs, application lifecycle, build systems, debugging tools, and platform-specific performance considerations.
• Experience developing with Unreal Engine, including debugging or extending engine-level C++ systems.
• Experience investigating and resolving issues at the boundary between Unreal Engine and native mobile platforms.
• Experience with mobile build, packaging, deployment, and release pipelines.

• (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $192,500.00 - $269,400.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
