Technical Program Management RoleMicrosoft's Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Capacity, Supply Chain & Provisioning (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.Microsoft Cloud Planning (MCP) is the central planning function within CSCP focusing on forecasting, capacity planning, hardware demand planning, inventory buffer strategies, and Integrated Business Planning (IBP). MCP is responsible for effectively collaborating with Cloud Services development partners, deeply understanding business goals, translating those needs into useful signals that inform long- mid- and short-term capacity plans, and providing consumable feedback signals that help inform future plans and goals. The function closely partners with Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Data Centers, New Product Introduction Teams, and the other Supply Chain organizations to plan capacity and hardware demand.The Commercial Cloud Planning team within MCP is chartered with generating an accurate and affordable hardware forecast and demand plan for Microsoft Commercial Cloud, which includes all Compute & Storage and all 1P Services and Appliances. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.ResponsibilitiesBuild, coach, and develop a high performing team of technical program management and demand planning professionalsIdentify and drive progress towards team Objectives and Key ResultsLead generation of unconstrained and constrained short-term and mid-term hardware and capex demand plans leveraging statistical modeling, decommission plans, product-lifecycle plans (new product introductions, end-of-life), migration plans, data center constraints, supply availability, and capex targetsDevelop technical insights into the product, customer value, COGS, and margin drivers to support well-balanced data-driven decisions for the businessOptimize the demand plan for supply availability, business growth, and cost; provide clear demand plan to all downstream partnersLead cross-functional discussions with EG(s), Finance, and Hardware Engineering on 24-month capacity plan, collaboratively identify risks and opportunities; support CVP-level decision-making via monthly interlocks and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) cadenceServe as focal point with EGs for all capacity topicsIdentify business transformation opportunities to drive accuracy, capex optimization velocity, reduce cycle time and increase predictabilityIdentify macro / micro industry trends affecting demand and bake them into planning processBring thought leadership to help management build and execute vision, inspire team members to do their best work, and proactively align with stakeholdersQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.1+ year(s) project or people management experience.3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Data Science, or a related technical field10+ years supply chain of any combination of demand forecasting, capacity planning, data science, program management, operations, and business planning experienceProven people management capabilities or aptitudeExcellent communication and relationship-building skills; ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with key stakeholders, resolve problems, and seek practical solutionsProven analytical skills and knowledge in root cause analysis/problem solving and the ability to implement and drive corrective actions and efficiencies in a matrix environmentDemand forecasting or supply chain planning in Cloud and/or high-tech hardware supply chainExperience leading cross-functional processes / programs with key stakeholders, e.g., Product, Finance, Engineering, Operations, Supply PlanningHands-on leadership experience moving fluidly from long-term strategy to day-to-day tactical implementationAbility to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to lead in ambiguous situations and deal effectively with conflicting priorities and changesAbility to get the best out of othersProficient in business presentation tools (e.g., word, power point, excel); able to generate and/or mentor others to produce high-quality outputsProficiency in Enterprise Planning systems (such as SAP, Oracle, E2Open, etc.) and business intelligence engines (SQL, Power BI, Power Pivot, Tableau, etc.)MS or MBA degreeTechnical Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year.
