Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) plays a critical role in providing comprehensive nursing care for patients with complex medical conditions. This position requires several years of ICU experience and proficiency in EPIC, Pyxis, and Excel for scheduling. The RN will work with patients experiencing conditions such as DKA, STEMIs, strokes, respiratory failure, and multi-organ failure.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols; monitor patients for side effects and treatment efficacy.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and timely.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Educate patients and their families on their care plans and health management.
• Delegate responsibilities appropriately to other care providers to manage the clinical situation effectively.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a critical care setting preferred, but new graduates will be considered.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification, required (AHA only).
• Must possess a valid RN License in the state of Texas or compact.
• Completion of New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire and ongoing annual competency requirements.
