You will partner closely with manufacturing, engineering, and site leadership to ensure system performance, drive continuous improvement, and deliver innovative automation solutions. In this role, you will balance hands-on operational support with ownership of complex engineering projects. You will also act as a trusted subject matter expert, guiding best practices and shaping automation strategy across the site. You will report into the Automation Lead.How You Will Contribute:Serve as the primary subject matter expert for control systems (PLC, DCS, MES, and ancillary data systems)Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting issues and ensuring system reliability and complianceLead the full project lifecycle from design through implementation for small to large-scale automation initiativesDefine project scope, strategy, and requirements while ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of solutionsOversee and review technical outputs of automation engineering workDrive continuous improvement, system performance optimization, and innovation initiativesCollaborate cross-functionally through daily operational and project meetingsSupport audits, inspections, and compliance activities by preparing and presenting required dataDevelop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and engineering standards for automation programsEnsure accurate documentation and lifecycle management of system specifications, drawings, and dataSkills and Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field8+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems engineeringStrong expertise with DeltaV or similar DCS platforms and PLC programmingExperience in cGMP, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated environmentsKnowledge of ISA-S88/ISA-S95 standards and batch or continuous manufacturing processesSolid understanding of industrial control systems, instrumentation, and networking (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus)Experience with data historians, reporting systems, and integration tools (e.g., OPC, SCADA platforms)Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and deliver solutions aligned with business goalsFamiliarity with system validation, commissioning, and qualification processesStrong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skillsTakeda Compensation and Benefits SummaryWe understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. For Location:USA - MA - Lexington - BIO OPSU.S. Base Salary Range:$116,000.00 - $182,270.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
