Job Summary

Brooker Memorial Early Learning and Child Care is seeking an experienced, responsible, nurturing Early Childhood Float Teacher to join our program.

We have been educating and caring for children for over 40 years. We are looking for a reliable, energetic, and enthusiastic individual who thrives in a team environment and is passionate about working with children. This position would work as a Float staff member, covering various classrooms and age groups as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment for children ages 6 weeks – 9 years old.
• Participate in the physical care and activities of children, ensuring developmental milestones are supported.
• Work collaboratively with team members to implement age-appropriate educational activities.
• Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and health/safety standards.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a licensed child care center is preferred.
• Some coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
• Candidates with a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential will be considered.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as standing for extended periods, bending, stooping, and sitting on the floor.
• Must possess the agility to move promptly from a seated to a standing position to respond to emergencies.
• Capable of participating in activities such as dancing, walking, diapering, and cleaning, both indoors and outdoors, in all four seasons.
• Must have acceptable hearing and visual capabilities to adequately supervise children by sight and sound.

Schedule and Location

• Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday
• In-person position in Torrington CT
