Lead Medical Coordinator

Certifications Current, unrestricted RN license with the state of program Current BLS certifications (PALS preferred) First aid certification CPR certification Work Experience 5 years of experience as a registered nurse 2 years of management experience Responsibilities Meet and maintain all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position. Develop medical clinic staffing schedules, assignments, and provide solutions to resolve staffing gaps. Provide medical staff with necessary training to ensure competence in assigned position and compliance with quarterly, bi-annual, and annual program training requirements, as well as best practices regarding CPR, First Aid, BLS, calling 9-1-1, controlling contagious disease, quality health care, and emergency response preparedness. Validate the completion of all nursing duties relevant to this position in compliance with all regulatory authorities and program protocols, including but not limited to active and ongoing nursing assessments, charting, scheduling of appointments, routine observations, isolation observations, wellness checks, immunizations, daily, monthly, and yearly reports, progress notes, and annual reports. Supervise, direct, and oversee site medical staff to execute medical services reflected in healthcare plans and treatment orders, including medication administration, ensuring that all treatment orders directed by physician or midlevel provider are implemented as ordered and immediately upon request. Communicate with pharmacies on ordering prescription medications, check medication deliveries for accuracy and compliance with doctor’s orders, and remediate any discrepancies. Effectively communicate, consult, and interact with the Deputy Executive Director for Medical Services and Executive Director on policy and procedure issues affecting the quality of health care services on campus and issues of contagious disease control when any child on campus is ill with a contagious disease. Maintain adequate over the counter medication supplies for each service population facility and arrange proper disposal of unused and expired medications. Maintain documentation of controlled drugs available, including up-to-date reconciliation of all scheduled drugs used in the facility through facility’s protocols and procedures. Provide required facility documentation and reporting to meet Compass Connections, federal and state guidelines within the required timeframes. Oversee the development of the medication administration record (MAR) for each child; audit MARs. Arrange transport of children to health care appointments, including doctor, dentist, therapy, counseling, lab, and other required visits. Participate in the development of health and medical related protocols and procedures for the federal program. Participate in scheduled meetings, team decisions, and operations. Maintain confidentiality of health care records and information in keeping with HIPAA, Protected Health Information (PHI) requirements, and Compass Connections confidentiality protocol and procedures. Know, understand, and apply positive behavior management techniques including verbal redirection, de-escalation, and containment. Know and recognize signs of abuse, neglect, and exploitation and sexually provocative behaviors and implement professional response, reporting and documenting procedures. Show appreciation and affection toward children in a manner that is compassionate and professional, minimizing cultural misinterpretations. Adhere to scheduled hours, remain available for on-call scheduling, and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed or requested. Plan, organize, and prioritize daily work using sound judgment. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols, including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations. Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the BC Compass Connections FS employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times. Other Responsibilities Perform and supervise medical staff to perform nursing duties at designated site(s). Supervise, direct, and train medical staff, and coordinate services, following state and federal, and Compass Connections Medical Services Division established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Implement and monitor established health care plans for service population at the site(s) as prescribed by an advanced practice provider or physician and applying best practice nursing guidelines. Complete accurate documentation for designated site(s) in accordance with agency policies and procedures, contract and regulatory requirements and standards and program timeline requirements. Review, write, and update medical protocols and procedures in collaboration with Medical Services and Compass Connections Professional Management Team. Meet all pre-determined deadlines required by program and federal partners. Requirements Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks. Demonstrate the ability to: Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English. Work in a fast‑paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times and make decisions based on the needs of the program and service population. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures. Must complete and sign Operations Policy and Procedure review and certification. Must provide current physical‑medical release and proof of immunizations or declinations for MMR, Varicella, HepB, HepA, Tetanus, PPD, and optionally Meningococcal. Must be able to perform physical activity such as extensive walking, lifting patients, stretching, and bending. Must be able to work in a team environment. Must be able to maintain professional people skills, including oral, written, listening, and non‑verbal communication skills.
