RN Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery is responsible for providing skilled nursing care in a high-acuity acute care hospital setting. This role requires expertise in circulating during deliveries, performing sterile vaginal exams, and managing patient care in a large hospital environment. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective maternal and neonatal care. A minimum of two years of Labor and Delivery experience and certifications such as BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate are mandatory.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.
• Perform sterile vaginal exams and circulate during delivery procedures.
• Monitor maternal and fetal status and respond to changes appropriately.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records using Epic charting system.
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
• Participate in emergency response and neonatal resuscitation as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years Labor and Delivery nursing experience (no first-time travelers).
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate required.
• Ability to perform sterile vaginal exams and circulate during deliveries.
• Experience working in large hospital settings highly preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• AWHONN Advanced certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.

Special Considerations:

• No first-time travelers accepted.
• Pending licenses are not accepted.
• Travel pairs will not be considered.
• Radius limit of 50 miles from facility.
• Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered.
• Facility may call off staff once per pay period.
• Scrub color: Navy Blue for RNs; L&D/OR scrubs provided.
• Free parking available.

Scheduling:

• Shift: 3 twelve-hour day shifts per week (07:00 - 19:30).
• Weekend coverage may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs.
• All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application.
