About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years Med/Tele RN experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management. Description: This facility has 241 licensed beds and is a Level 3 Trauma Center. It is also a certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The unit consists of 32 beds with an average patient census of 32. The patient population includes those with strokes, respiratory illnesses such as flu, pneumonia, and COVID, renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wounds. Patient ratios are 1 RN to 5 patients. Support within the department includes Certified Nursing Assistants for activities of daily living, mobility, and feeding. There may or may not be a charge nurse with a patient assignment. Phlebotomy services are available, and the IV/VAT Team is present 24/7. There are hospitalists and intensivists also available around the clock. Telemetry monitoring and tech support are in place for patient care. The technology utilized includes an electronic medical record system along with IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and monitors. Unit-specific equipment includes virtual nursing technology with cameras that allows for a second RN witness for certain medications, close monitoring of patients requiring special attention, and assistance with admission and discharge processes. Floating may occur within the region and scope of practice. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, patient-centered care, and a fun-loving atmosphere.
