Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Med Tele/Ortho Team - Night Shift RN Opportunity!


- Position: Med Tele/Ortho RN
- Shift: 12 Hour Nights
- Location: 4th Floor North & South
- Department Overview:
- Unit Capacity: 55 beds
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Common Diagnoses:
- Joint replacements
- Fractures
- Colon resections
- COPD exacerbation
- Prostatectomy
- Cellulitis
- Sepsis
- Ortho trauma
- GI bleeds
- Pneumonia
- Failure to thrive


- Requirements:
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Candidates must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facilities associated with CommonSpirit

- Responsibilities:
- Titrate drips including Heparin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine
- Collaborate with Charge Nurse and care team
- Engage with patients from diverse backgrounds


- Support Staff:
- Nurse Aides/Patient Care Techs: Ratio of 1:10-20
- Tele/Monitor Techs to assist with strip interpretation


- Scheduling Details:
- Shift Times: 0630-1900, 1830-0700
- Weekend Requirement: Typically every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's
- Floating: Yes, to other MedSurg areas as needed


- Orientation:
- 2 days of unit-specific orientation
- Must pass an open book exam with a score of 90%


- Additional Notes:
- Mechanical lifts available in every other room
- Emphasis on patient responsiveness and hourly rounding
- A successful nurse demonstrates teamwork, compassion, and prioritizes patient care
