Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Additional Details:

Special Requests: - At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Preferred Skills/Experience: - 1 year or more of hospital experience preferred.

Preferred Credentials: - ACLS preferred for Charge RN position.

Unit Details: - Ratio 4-5:1 (days), 5-6:1 (nights). - General medical patients with various diagnoses. - RNs are required to titrate Heparin; common drips include Heparin. - 24-hour Charge RN coverage; Charge RN may have a patient assignment at times. House supervisor coverage is 24/7. - Patients may have oxygen requirements up to 6L NC and stable BiPAP/CPAP at night or PRN. - Telemetry is monitored remotely via the house-wide telemetry department; unit equipment is primarily Phillips. - Two PCTs per shift, ratio 9:1 when the unit is full, otherwise evenly split. Unit clerk coverage is 24/7. - Hospitalist/Intensivist in house 24/7. - RNs are expected to attempt IV starts and utilize unit resources if unsuccessful; the inpatient phlebotomy team is utilized for blood draws. - RT is in house 24/7. Pharmacy is available 24/7; all medications are prepared by pharmacy staff.

Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend (Sat/Sun for days; Fri/Sat for nights). - Holiday rotation per policy. - Call is not required.

Floating Requirements: - Travel RNs are first to float to other units as needed.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months
