Salary: $135,200 - 306,400 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for 8-10 years of experience working with MySQL, cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and relational databases, preferably MySQL.
• We need strong technical writing and public speaking ability, shown through blogs, tutorials, conference presentations, or webinars.
• We require hands-on experience designing, deploying, or managing MySQL in cloud environments.
• We are seeking experience building online communities and handling developer or user questions.
• We expect proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• We need demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across engineering, product, and community stakeholders, while leading effectively without direct authority.
• We require experience with open-source development workflows, including GitHub-based contribution models, pull request reviews, issue triage, and release or change communication.
• Preferred: experience managing or contributing to open-source projects related to data or cloud technologies.
• Preferred: familiarity with DBA skills, DevOps practices, and data migration or integration tools.
• Preferred: experience with other data technologies such as NoSQL and analytics stacks, plus complementary technologies like Java, JavaScript, Python, Linux, Spring, Helidon, and cloud-native tools.
• Preferred: experience with AI/ML and LLMs.
• Preferred: passion for teaching and technical enablement.
• Preferred: established credibility in the MySQL ecosystem, such as being a known community participant, speaker, author, maintainer, contributor, or recognized practitioner in enterprise MySQL deployments.

• We champion the needs of developers and users working with MySQL solutions.
• We build and grow active technical communities around on-premise and cloud-based MySQL offerings, including Oracle MySQL Database Service.
• We answer technical questions, gather feedback, and help resolve issues through forums, social media, GitHub, Stack Overflow, and similar channels.
• We create high-quality technical content such as blog posts, video tutorials, and sample applications focused on MySQL in cloud architectures.
• We speak at virtual and in-person conferences, webinars, and meetups on cloud-native data management, MySQL performance, and database migrations.
• We represent cloud and MySQL users by consolidating feedback and working with product teams to influence the product roadmap.
• We gather and synthesize technical requirements from large users and ecosystem partners to help shape the MySQL Community Edition roadmap over a 3-5 year horizon.
• We demonstrate new MySQL features and releases through reference architectures, deep-dive technical sessions, and real-world use cases.
• We act as a technical bridge between the community and MySQL engineering, translating field feedback into actionable input and validating feasibility and impact.
• We organize hackathons, workshops, and cloud sessions centered on modern MySQL use cases.
• We develop and maintain community resources such as getting started guides, FAQs, migration playbooks, and architectural best practices.
• We lead and expand advocacy programs such as MySQL ACE and Rockstars.
• We drive external contribution programs by identifying, encouraging, and mentoring high-quality community contributions aligned with product direction.
• We partner with engineering to broaden open-source participation while maintaining technical quality through clear contribution standards, review expectations, and acceptance criteria.
• We work with engineering, product management, and marketing to advocate for developer needs and promote relevant new features.
• We keep documentation and content materials accurate and current.
• We manage MySQLs GitHub organization processes and structure, including contribution workflows, issue and pull request triage, templates, labeling, and governance practices.
• We collaborate with engineering, sales, and partner teams to support adoption with technically credible guidance on architecture, deployment, performance, and reliability.
• We track, measure, and report on community health, engagement, and adoption metrics.
• We monitor and report on ecosystem signals such as contribution volume and quality, pull request throughput, issue trends, and community-driven roadmap inputs.
