Domain Expert AI Trainer

Role Description The Domain Expert AI Trainer will work on‑site in California, United States, in a contract role. In this position, the trainer will review, evaluate, and refine AI‑generated content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with domain‑specific standards in their area of expertise. Day‑to‑day tasks include creating and curating high‑quality training data, developing guidelines and rubrics for AI behavior, and collaborating with technical teams to improve models based on domain insights. The trainer will also document best practices, provide detailed feedback on AI outputs, and help design scenarios and test cases that reflect real‑world applications relevant to Northeastern’s academic and research priorities. Qualifications Strong domain expertise in a relevant academic, professional, or technical field, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and accurately. Experience reviewing, editing, or evaluating written content for quality, consistency, and adherence to guidelines. Comfort working with data‑driven projects, including following annotation standards and providing structured feedback on AI outputs. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to high ethical standards in AI use. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and follow documented processes. Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline; advanced degree or prior work in research, teaching, or curriculum design is a plus. Interest in AI, machine learning, or educational technology, and willingness to learn foundational concepts related to AI training and evaluation.
