Physician Assistant - Neurosurgery - New York - Locums - Starting in June

Opportunity Details:

This is a locum tenens Physician Assistant opportunity supporting a neurosurgery department. The provider will primarily focus on spine surgery cases, with some exposure to cranial procedures. The PA will work alongside a full-time neurosurgery attending, providing surgical first assist and minor procedural support within a collaborative clinical environment. The role offers a Monday through Friday daytime schedule with no required call, fostering a strong work-life balance. The position involves managing approximately 5 to 7 surgeries per week, predominantly spine procedures, and assisting with inpatient consults, minor procedures, and post-operative care. This opportunity is suitable for a PA with neurosurgical or surgical experience, actively licensed and credentialed, and comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment for a duration of one year, with the possibility of extension.


Requirements:

Neurosurgical or spine surgery experience Ability to perform first assist in surgical procedures Skilled in minor procedures such as suturing and wound management Ability to work collaboratively with surgical and inpatient teams Strong clinical judgment and patient management skills in neurosurgical settings Active New York State Physician Assistant license Board certification in Physician Assistant DEA registration and New York State controlled substance registration (BNE) BLS and ACLS certifications Prior experience assisting in neurosurgical cases, specifically spine and cranial procedures Min 2 years experience as a PA in neurosurgery or spine surgery
