CNC Swiss Machinist ($25-$40 per hour) Position Overview The CNC Swiss Machinist is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC Swiss machines to produce high-precision parts that meet rigorous customer specifications. This role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to safe, high-quality production. Key Responsibilities
- Programming & Setup: Program using G & M codes; set up machines to cut parts within blueprint or CAD file tolerances.
- Operations: Process materials in accordance with production schedules; load machines using appropriate equipment (forklift, vacuum lift, cranes, slings, or magnets); maintain traceability of heat/lot and raw material data.
- Inspection & Quality: Perform "in-process" inspections; label parts with accurate information (part number, material type, heat/lot number); deburr, clean, and dry parts, applying rust preventative as needed.
- Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning; update maintenance ledgers; manage tooling and hand tools.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all established safety protocols (including PPE requirements); maintain a clean and orderly work area; adhere to internal Quality Management Systems (QMS), FOD (Foreign Object Debris) Prevention, and Counterfeit Parts Awareness.
- Efficiency: Complete jobs within benchmark timeframes; effectively manage time and organize materials between projects.
- Required Skills & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with basic inspection equipment (micrometers, dial calipers, tape measures, etc.).
- Excellent communication, teamwork, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to obtain a forklift operator's license and lift up to 55 lbs.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Swiss CNC Turning Centers.
- Five (5) years of related machining experience.
- Background in machining aerospace alloys, carbon and stainless steels, aluminum, and plastics.
- Previous CAD/CAM experience.
- Familiarity with hi-feed inserts, drills, and endmills.
- Technical school degree or certificate in a related field.
- Strong background in shop math
