Material Handler

Warehouse AssociateOrganizes and monitors inventory, loads and unloads materials, documents orders and manifests.Assist with all shipping, receiving, and inventory organization effortsHelp to efficiently carry out all product loading and unloading tasksReceive and process new inventory, ensuring contents match manifest documentsInspect receivables for defects, damages, or missing itemsUnload, stack, move, and place products in appropriately designated areasMove and transfer products between various sections of the warehouse as neededUse forklifts, pallet jacks, hand carts etc. to transfer and deliver goodsPerform detailed manual inventory countsLabel warehouse stock for quick and easy identification and retrievalStack, shelve, and stage items for storage and shipment as necessaryFulfill and track outgoing ordersCollect, prepare, package, and label goods for shipmentLoad and strap/band totes and/or drums in containers for overseas shipmentLoad and unload from dry vans, containers, and flat bedsDouble-check items to verify accuracy of outgoing ordersOperate floor sweeperEnsure tools and equipment are kept clean and in working orderReport any equipment malfunctions or issues to upper managementFollow all warehouse policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs)Adhere to all health and safety rules and regulationsWear protective clothing and equipment as requiredOperate tools and machinery safely and efficiently according to company protocolWork with other warehouse team members to effectively complete assigned tasksDuties related to Hazardous Waste ManagementAssist with staging trailers, vans, or tankers in docks or loading areas as needed via yard mulePerforms other duties as assignedCandidate Qualifications / RequirementsPrevious experience with shipping/receiving hazardous materials preferredFamiliar with hazardous material manifesting requirementsPrevious warehouse experience preferredForklift certification and/or ability to successfully complete forklift trainingYard mule experience and/or experience backing in trailers preferredExcellent verbal communicatorComputer literateFamiliar with common warehouse tools and equipmentThorough, alert, and detail-orientedDependable and responsibleStrong work ethicComfortable working independentlyMakes safety a priorityPhysical & Work RequirementMust be able to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical partsHigh, precarious placesFumes or airborne particlesOutside weather conditionsContribute to other projects and plans not specifically noted to reach divisional objectivesKoppers Inc. and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity employers.
