Tax Partner - Credits, Incentives & Methods

RSM is looking for a dynamic Tax Partner to join our growing Accounting Methods & Periods (AMP) practice. Responsibilities Consult with clients on a variety of tax technical issues in the accounting and methods functional area, including the timing and character of income and expense recognition, inventory methods, UNICAP, the treatment of tangible assets, amortization and depreciation, transaction costs, intangible assets, leasing, revenue recognition, and changes in methods of accounting and accounting periods. Build and manage a team of professionals who help clients identify, document, and support tax positions related to tax accounting methods. Manage AMP opportunities such as research and development tax credit/deduction analyses, Section 199 deduction engagements, Section 179 deduction analysis, application of tangible asset regulations, cost segregation, and appropriate application of accounting methods. Understand and apply legislative changes as they relate to AMP. Lead business development with existing clients and develop marketing plans to secure new clients. Demonstrate sound judgment in evaluating complex scenarios involving various AMP opportunities. Work closely with core Federal tax professionals to ensure all clients receive an exceptional level of service. Mentor and develop team members; manage profitable engagements; formulate sales and go‑to‑market strategy; develop service offerings with Washington National Tax; conduct technical review of deliverables; and develop national and local training programs. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. CPA; J.D. or LL.M. preferred. 10–15 years of experience in a public accounting firm and/or other professional services firm. 10+ years of experience providing tax technical guidance and consulting services to internal client servers and large multinational clients on federal tax matters such as expense and revenue recognition, capitalization and depreciation, leasing, long‑term contract accounting, Base‑Erosion and Anti‑Abuse Tax (BEAT) planning, and accounting method planning for foreign corporations. Knowledge of a broad range of corporate tax matters across various industries. Experience managing tax consulting professionals. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comparable programs. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple engagements in a deadline‑driven environment. Exceptional leadership and business development skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
