Job Details Title: Patient Access Representative II Location: Main Hospital – New Brunswick, One Robert Wood Johnson Place, New Brunswick, NJ 08901 Department: Emergency Dept Access Service Shift: Evening Employment Type: Part‑Time Pay Range: $21.72 – $27.00 per hour Job Overview The Patient Access Representative II position plays a key role in the health system in providing excellent customer service while ensuring timely throughput and capturing all necessary data. Responsibilities include greeting patients, ensuring respectful treatment, providing a safe and secure environment during registration, reviewing and communicating forms, obtaining signatures, and collecting accurate demographic and insurance information. The role also involves using technology to complete registration and ensure accurate documentation. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3 years of patient access experience Customer service experience Knowledge of registration, billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care Medical terminology and computer skills Essential Functions Create a positive environment for patient and colleague satisfaction Provide excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues, and other internal and external customers Interview patients and families to gather relevant demographic and financial information for scheduling, pre‑registration, and registration Accurately document all demographic information Obtain insurance information and initiate verification via third‑party clearinghouse Complete verification of coverage and financial clearance activity Meet and exceed department goals including accuracy, point‑of‑service collections, and productivity Ensure all required forms are provided, reviewed, explained, and signed by the patient or authorized person Inform patients of financial responsibility, collect appropriate amounts, issue receipts, and perform daily cash reconciliation Provide backup support to hospital cashier and perform cashier functions when assigned Complete Medicare questionnaire for eligible patients Review work queues daily to correct errors and ensure accurate billing information Place patients in the appropriate bed and maintain bed board accuracy through the bed tracking system Demonstrate proficiency in pre‑admission, registration, and financial clearance processes Maintain a high level of efficiency, accuracy, and productivity Verify patient demographic accuracy to avoid duplicate records Follow department procedures for duplicate records Comply with policies on advance directives and patient rights Provide regulatory documents, obtain signatures, and witness signatures Maintain department productivity by taking additional duties when patient flow permits Prioritize customer needs Observe and report on customer service performed by others Demonstrate initiative, proactively identify and resolve problems, and escalates issues when necessary Maintain a positive attitude and supportive work environment Collaborate with nursing and ancillary departments to foster teamwork Participate in training, develop training tools, and teach registration staff Perform other duties as assigned Benefits Paid Time Off (PTO) Medical and prescription drug insurance Dental and vision insurance Retirement plans Short‑ and long‑term disability Life and accidental death insurance Tuition reimbursement Health‑care and dependent‑care flexible spending accounts Wellness programs Optional voluntary benefits (e.g., pet insurance) Partner discounts (e.g., sporting events, telecommunications, etc.) RWJBarnabas Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr RWJBarnabas Health
