Lead Child and Youth Program Assistant CY-02.

The Child and Youth Services (CYS) program seeks a team leader to oversee staff and ensure the delivery of developmentally appropriate care and instruction for children and youth aged 6 weeks through 18 years. Responsibilities Serve as a team leader responsible for ensuring program staff provides developmental care and instruction for children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs. Ensure the implementation of a developmentally appropriate program that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of children and youth in the ages served. Instruct team members in specific tasks and job techniques; make available written instructions, reference materials, and supplies. Develop, plan, and implement age‑appropriate educational lesson plans, schedules, and activities based on observed needs and interests of individual children and youth. Ensure staff follow health and safety standards for diapering, toileting, hand washing, cleaning/sanitizing/disinfecting surfaces and materials, food service, safe sleep practices, and caring for ill children and youth. Conditions of Employment Direct deposit and Social Security Card are required. Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment and meet all qualification, eligibility, and background requirements. One‑year probationary period may be required. Successfully complete an employment verification (E‑Verify) check. Affiliated with a background check that is favorably adjudicated. Position requires immunization against communicable diseases, including the influenza vaccine. Must pass a pre‑employment physical and subsequent physicals; provide evidence of immunization. For Child Development Center positions, maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand routinely. Must have the visual and auditory capabilities required for child supervision. Legally required to report all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect. Must complete DoW and Service training requirements, including orientation, initial, and annual training, and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. Required to perform repetitive actions such as walking, standing, bending, stooping, and sitting; preserve necessary mobility. Majority of work occurs at the CYS facility, with occasional indoor and outdoor field trips. May work evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate program operating schedules. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Effective oral and written communication skills in English. Minimum of 18 months experience in group programs with children/youth and demonstrated knowledge of theories and principles of child/youth development, plus Education: completion of DoW standardized training course or Child Development Associate (CDA) or Military School‑Age (MSA) credential. OR minimum of 12 months experience in group programs with children/youth with demonstrated knowledge of theories and principles of child growth and development, PLUS Education: associate's degree or 60 semester hours of college credit in early childhood, elementary, secondary education; child and youth development, special education, human development, youth program administration, recreation, physical education, or directly related behavioral sciences.
