Stationary Engineer - Facilities - Days

Hourly Pay Range: $35.16 - $54.50. Position Highlights Position: Stationary Engineer Location: Edward Hospital, Naperville, IL Employment type: Full Time, 40 hours Hours: Sunday to Thursday 7:30am–4:00pm, holidays required Required Travel: none What You Will Do Repair and perform preventative maintenance on electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment within the facility. Select appropriate tools, materials, and supplies, shutting down electrical circuits and water flow as necessary. Maintain non‑clinical electronic components such as fire alarm systems, building utilities, water, steam, electrical, medical gas, natural gas, and compressed air systems. Notify appropriate personnel of difficult or complex problems and notify affected departments or staff when service interruptions are necessary for emergency repairs. Operate and maintain high‑pressure boilers, A/C chillers, cooling towers, and related plant equipment. Perform proper chemistry tests at the start of each shift as appropriate. Ensure all work is accomplished in a professional manner. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on plant equipment, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment according to manufacturers’ specifications. Perform major repairs on fan motors, HVAC equipment, plumbing equipment, plant equipment, piping, and electrical systems. Monitor critical alarms via pager and facility management system as assigned. Respond to alarms, investigate their source, repair conditions, call vendors, and communicate with Facilities leadership. Record information into the daily operating log. Request materials and supplies as needed to support stock levels. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner. Complete and submit all work request forms, activity reports, and miscellaneous forms required to maintain department record files. Identify major problems, initiate corrective action, and report the situation to appropriate management personnel. Enter all critical alarms into the building log at the time the information is received, and log all other important situations promptly. Respond to code calls as appropriate. Off‑site engineers operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair rooftop units, air handler units, boilers, chillers, and associated HVAC systems. What You Will Need Education : High school diploma required. License/Certification : Stationary Engineer License – Chicago or Elgin, obtained within six months of start date. A valid driver’s license is required if duties include travel to off‑site locations. If a personal vehicle is used, automobile liability coverage must be maintained as required by law.
