RN Neuromusculoskeletal Med Surg Float

Job Summary:

The Level II Registered Nurse (RN) Neuromusculoskeletal Med Surg Float is responsible for providing competent nursing care based on established standards within the medical-surgical neuromusculoskeletal unit. This role involves clinical practice, service excellence, professional development, and evidence-based practice. The RN may also assume expanded duties such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member. The position requires telemetry experience and proficiency in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments, with a commitment to collaboration and patient-centered care. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State (NYS RN license only).
• Minimum of two (2) years of medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Telemetry experience required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) competency required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with electronic medical record systems (e.g., EPIC) within the last year.
• Previous experience in charge nurse or preceptor roles.
• Familiarity with neuromusculoskeletal patient care protocols.

Special Considerations:

• Must be available for weekend, holiday, on-call, callback, and charge nurse duties as needed.
• Ability to work rotating day, evening, and night shifts on inpatient units.
• Compliance with TB skin testing and other health screening requirements.
• Work environment includes fast-paced inpatient medical-surgical neuromusculoskeletal care.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule includes day, evening, and night shifts (D/E/N) with rotating assignments.
• Shift hours may total 36 or 48 hours per week based on unit needs.
• Shift assignments include weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation.
