Key Responsibilities
  • Operate digital fluoroscopic and portable radiology equipment under general supervision to capture routine radiographs of specified body areas, following physician instructions and radiographic protocols.
  • Apply your radiology expertise to serve patients of all ages while complying with radiation safety guidelines and organizational policies. Demonstrate proficiency in general radiology and fluoroscopy by acquiring and assessing images for technical quality, ensuring accurate patient identification and image labeling.
  • Engage in departmental and organizational initiatives aimed at improving performance, enhancing workflows, patient experiences, quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Actively participate in training and educational activities for students and staff.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including preparing and cleaning patient rooms. Ensure adequate supplies and inventory are available in your designated area.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to gather medical histories, address inquiries, and explain procedures to ensure their understanding and comfort.
  • Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of equipment by conducting quality control checks and promptly reporting any equipment or environmental issues.
  • Provide education and support to patients, preparing them for procedures and addressing their physical and emotional needs. Escalate concerns through the appropriate channels as necessary.
  • Manage patient flow and coordinate care through consistent communication with patients, the care team, and families. Document patient care activities in electronic health record systems and ensure timely distribution of final images to the PACS system for interpretation.
  • Consistently demonstrate professionalism in actions and communication, embodying the organization’s values and fostering a respectful and supportive atmosphere for patients, families, and colleagues. Adhere to the ARRT Standards of Ethics.
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with federal, state, professional, and accreditation requirements.
  • Take direction from leadership, ensuring adherence to established protocols, maintaining patient flow, and seeking clarification when needed.
QualificationsEducation
  • Associate’s degree is required; or
  • A certificate in Radiologic Technology (awarded before January 1, 2015) from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) is required.
Experience
  • No prior work experience is necessary.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required upon hire in Maryland and must be obtained within 90 days of hire in Washington, D.C.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills are preferred.

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD $29.73 - USD $53.49 per hour.
