You arrive at The Entwistle Company and power up a massive CNC horizontal or vertical machining center. A complex blueprint lands on your bench: aluminum and steel parts, from large castings and forgings to plates and sizable weldments. You plan the work, dial in feeds and speeds, choose the right tooling and workholding, and lift a multi-hundred-pound component into place with an overhead crane. Precision matters here, so you confirm every setup with micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gage blocks, and height gauges. The part must meet tight tolerances and exacting military standards—because what you machine today supports U.S. and allied defense tomorrow.

What you will do

• Set up and run large CNC horizontal and vertical machining centers for complex, large-format parts.
• Read and apply verbal and written instructions plus intricate blueprints for aluminum and steel parts including large castings, forgings, plates, and weldments.
• Select feeds, speeds, cutting tools, and fixturing to achieve tight tolerances and superior finishes.
• Use precision measurement tools to verify setups and in-process results.
• Review and validate work to ensure it meets customer and military requirements.
• Safely operate overhead cranes to load and unload heavy components.
• Record daily production and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Follow all health and safety practices and perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of formal trade training or equivalent technical education.
• 5–10 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating large CNC horizontal and vertical mills.
• Demonstrated strong work ethic and reliability.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to quality.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
