RN Infusion Oncology

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Outpatient Infusion setting at Batavia Medical Center will provide skilled nursing care for patients receiving hematology/oncology, monoclonal antibody, and other infusion therapies. The role involves chemotherapy teaching at the chairside, managing up to 8 patients per shift with a maximum daily capacity of 24 patients. The nurse will work independently within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring patient safety and effective treatment delivery in a community-based oncology practice. Responsibilities:

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and non-oncology infusions according to protocols.
• Provide chairside chemotherapy teaching and patient education.
• Manage a full patient assignment independently with minimal supervision.
• Perform vascular access including IV and port access procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, LPNs, and other team members.
• Document patient care and infusion details accurately in the Epic EMR system.
• Operate Alaris infusion pumps safely and effectively.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond appropriately.
• Maintain compliance with safety and infection control standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current, unencumbered New York State Registered Nurse license.
• 2 3 years of recent infusion nursing experience.
• Oncology certification in chemotherapy/immunotherapy.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records system.
• Experience using Alaris infusion pumps.
• Strong IV, vascular access, and port access skills.
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and care team members.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Outpatient clinic experience in hematology/oncology infusion settings.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary oncology team environment.

Special Considerations:

• No weekend or holiday shifts required.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Work performed in a community-based oncology outpatient infusion clinic.
• Must be able to work independently managing a full patient load.

Scheduling:

• Full-time, Monday through Friday schedule.
• Day shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Shift assignments are consistent with no rotating shifts.
