Travel Surgical Technologist

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience for a hospital Surgery unit position with rotating weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts.

Hospital Surgery department setting

Day shift schedule, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday

Rotating weekend and holiday shift requirements

On-call availability required outside of scheduled hours, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays

May float to other Carle Health hospital locations within the system

Minimum of 1 year of surgical technology experience required

Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate of completion from a Surgical Technology program required

BLS certification from the American Heart Association required

IDPH Fingerprinting required

License required if applicable

Fluent in written and spoken English

Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browser use

Strong critical thinking and independent decision-making skills

Multicultural sensitivity required

Assist surgeons in performing operative and invasive procedures across a variety of surgical specialties

Prepare and set up sterile fields, instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgeon-specific procedures

Perform in first scrub, first assist, and second scrub roles as needed

Serve as a resource and informal lead, mentoring and training other surgical technologists, students, and RNs

Anticipate and respond to intra-operative case changes and emergencies with composure

Perform case closing activities, including dressing application and patient transfer

Collaborate closely with the circulating RN, including accurate and timely counts

Communicate effectively with the surgical team, distinguishing between urgent and routine needs

Maintain patient privacy and uphold professional conduct in the operating room
