Job Description Thrive Technologies is a bleeding-edge software start-up that is revolutionizing how VR developers build and share their ideas and creations. Based in Silicon Valley, Thrive was started with a vision of a flexible online framework that eliminates the hurdles, limitations and frustrations faced in VR development today. Thrive is designing and building a bleeding-edge framework that provides a forward-thinking path for developers creating and sharing VR software. This framework and its web front-end requires a complex and robust back-end for its operation. As a full‑stack developer at Thrive you will be focused on the backend software and infrastructure required to support our framework’s needs. Along with backend APIs you will also be responsible for our data‑store and security infrastructure. Candidates should show a proficiency in back‑end development including core networking concepts. NodeJS, APIs, Typescript, AWS, Databases, etc… This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a company that will shape the future of VR software development and distribution. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related technical field. 2+ years experience in related position, or equivalent independent experience. Comfortability and willingness to learn new things and ask questions necessary to competently complete your tasks. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or experience in a related field is preferred, but not required if you can demonstrate relevant experience. Working at Thrive! At Thrive you’ll work remotely as part of a team that is designing and developing our VR application and game development framework. Your specific duties may include iterating on design, writing code, debugging, and creating documentation. You’ll be involved in all stages of the development life‑cycle, from initial concept to final implementation and support. Regardless of your position, at Thrive you’ll have the opportunity to work on challenging and innovative projects that require unconventional solutions and structured, scalable implementations. To succeed in this role, you should have a strong understanding of data flow, networking concepts, and performance considerations, and be able to conceptualize systems and their impact on the user experience. This is a remote work position, with a preferred commitment of 20‑40 hours per week. However, we may be able to accommodate exceptions in certain circumstances, such as internship arrangements. As with any remote‑work position you’ll be expected to effectively “self‑manage” to varying degrees, using tools like Discord, Zoom, Miro, and Trello to stay connected with the team and collaborate on projects.
