Senior Software Engineer, Core Infra

Salary: $79,200 - 209,500 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for experience designing and optimizing components in distributed systems with a focus on scalability, resilience, and operability.
• We expect familiarity with horizontal and vertical scaling, distributed state management, and large-scale data processing.
• We value experience with performance and load testing, fault-tolerant design, and mechanisms such as redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
• We seek someone who can proactively identify and resolve issues using tests, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, runbooks, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• We require knowledge of standard replication and synchronization approaches, as well as automation and Infrastructure as Code for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• We expect experience applying security controls such as encryption and access management, along with supporting compliance and documentation standards.
• We are looking for someone able to track timelines with limited supervision, prioritize work as needs change, collaborate across teams, solve problems independently, and contribute to continuous learning and improvement.

• We design, implement, and improve distributed system components that can scale efficiently and operate reliably.
• We develop and deliver features, along with performance and load tests, for high-volume systems.
• We use data plane platforms and distributed state tools to support large-scale retrieval, storage, and processing.
• We review peer implementations to ensure they meet scalability expectations.
• We build fault-tolerant paths using redundancy, replication, and automatic failover.
• We apply recovery-oriented design principles and introduce retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts to handle network instability.
• We create tests, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting to detect and address issues early.
• We write and execute runbooks and operational procedures to support recovery from failures.
• We design functional features and test scenarios, including fault-injection and brown-out testing, to verify correctness and availability.
• We diagnose, debug, and resolve operational issues, including participation in incident response and root-cause investigations.
• We build automation scripts and tooling for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• We apply encryption, access controls, and remediation measures to protect data and applications.
• We help ensure cloud infrastructure meets compliance requirements and that documentation stays current.
• We maintain Infrastructure as Code and other automation tools for managing cloud infrastructure.
• We follow change management procedures for patching, upgrades, and rollbacks.
• We coordinate timelines, align with other teams, and adjust priorities as project needs evolve.
