Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Agronomist to oversee and optimize crop production programs through strategic planning, field analysis, and agronomic recommendations. This role is responsible for maximizing crop yield, quality, profitability, and environmental stewardship through crop scouting, nutrient management, irrigation planning, and precision agriculture technologies. The Agronomist will collaborate closely with operations teams to implement agronomic plans safely and efficiently while driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the farming operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement annual crop management plans, including fertility, seed, irrigation, and crop protection strategies.
  • Conduct routine crop scouting, soil sampling, tissue analysis, and field evaluations to maximize crop health and yield.
  • Utilize precision agriculture technologies, including GPS guidance, yield mapping, and variable-rate applications.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with pesticide, fertilizer, and nutrient management programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with farm operations personnel to coordinate planting, spraying, irrigation, and harvest activities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science, Agricultural Systems Technology, Agricultural Business, or related field required.
  • Minimum two years of agronomic experience preferred.
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator License required or ability to obtain within an established timeframe.
  • Strong knowledge of crop production systems, soil fertility, nutrient management, and integrated pest management practices.
  • Experience with precision agriculture technologies, irrigation systems, and agricultural equipment operation preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
  • Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) designation preferred or willingness to pursue certification.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

The base salary range for this position is $20-25 per hour excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
