Description:
Unit Notes:
The unit features 10 spacious, private Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) rooms.
There are 2 antepartum rooms and 1 operating room suite.
Two on-call rooms are available for physicians.
The unit typically sees 50 births per month, totaling about 600 births per year.


Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, and NRP.
Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification is preferred.


The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for couplets and 1:1 for laboring patients.
The unit utilizes OBIX, EMR, and MediTech systems.


Staff includes Charge Nurses, Lactation Counselors, a Unit Secretary/Notary, and a Maternity Educator.
There are Nurse Aides/OB Techs available depending on census.


Weekend requirements are every third weekend, with potential adjustments based on needs.
Holiday staffing includes one major and one minor holiday.


Scrub color is provided by the hospital.
Telemetry is centrally monitored.


There is no onsite OB or Neonatologist; Anesthesia is on call with a 20-minute response time, and OB is also on call.
An IV Team is available 24/7.


The unit has strong IV skills requirements.
Pharmacy services are available 24/7.


Nurses may be on call starting at 9 PM, with plans for 24/7 coverage in the future.
Shifts are from 6 PM to 6 AM.


C-section experience is required, with circulating responsibilities expected.
Floating to NICU is limited to feeders and growers only.


Orientation will be specific to the unit for one to two days.
Common diagnoses and patient types include patients starting from 32 weeks of gestation, with no VBAC cases or specific medications like magnesium sulfate or insulin.


Additional Notes:
Mothers labor and deliver in one bed without a nursery; newborns stay in bassinets in their mothers' rooms.
The facility emphasizes skin-to-skin care and teamwork in the department.
In April 2018, the department was recognized as a 'Safe Sleep Champion' by health authorities.


Cancellation Policy:
The client may provide a 2-week notice to cancel up to 48 hours before the start of a 13-week assignment with no penalty.


Charting System:
The unit uses EPIC for charting.
