Responsibilities As a Speech‑Language Pathologist, you help patients regain their power. You help them communicate, swallow, and work to diminish or remediate disorders or deficits. In doing this, you take responsibility for delivering effective and efficient rehabilitation services, designing the plan, and working with patients to execute those plans. You're a healer and a helper, which is why you chose this line of work. You are adept at addressing the whole patient, seeing them as an individual, and designing programs that restore, reinforce, and enhance their speech and communication abilities. You adapt to the patient’s needs, thrive on variety, and keep moving through your day from cleaning equipment to reporting to meetings. You're a teammate who enjoys collaboration with peers yet is happy to make referrals so patients get the care they need to thrive. As a Speech‑Language Pathologist, you are a teacher who trains patients and caregivers on skills that promote independence and productivity. Qualifications A master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders, or a similarly titled area accepted by the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association.
