Job DescriptionHS&E Supervisor – Marine & Heavy Civil ConstructionTampa - Onsite, regional travel required POSITION SUMMARYOrion is seeking an HS&E Supervisor to join our Health, Safety & Environmental team. This is an early-career to intermediate-level safety position designed for safety professionals who have established foundational experience and are ready to continue developing their careers within the construction industry.The HS&E Supervisor I will work closely with experienced HS&E leadership, project management, Superintendents, and field personnel to support safe work practices, regulatory compliance, employee training, incident prevention, field safety activities, and Orion's overall safety culture.About Orion: Orion is a specialty construction company serving the infrastructure, industrial, and commercial markets. Our operations include marine and heavy civil construction, including ports, marine terminals, bridges, pile driving, and waterfront infrastructure, as well as concrete construction supporting large-scale commercial and structural concrete projects.The successful candidate will support Orion's guiding beliefs and core values of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork, all built upon the foundation of Integrity.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Support day-to-day HS&E activities for assigned construction projects and operations.Assist project teams and field leadership in implementing Orion safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.Participate in field safety inspections, observations, and audits and assist with identifying and addressing potential hazards.Support accident and incident prevention efforts and participate in incident reviews and investigations as assigned.Assist with employee safety orientations, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training programs.Maintain and update weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety reports and related documentation.Assist with collecting and analyzing safety data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.Support the preparation of project-specific Construction Site Safety Plans, Emergency Action Plans, and other safety documentation.Assist with OSHA and other applicable regulatory compliance activities.Coordinate safety training registrations, scheduling, certifications, and associated recordkeeping.Support documentation related to injuries, property damage, environmental events, and other claims.Maintain accurate safety records and provide data entry and administrative support within Orion's Safety Management System, including Intelex.Work collaboratively with HS&E leadership, Project Managers, Superintendents, field personnel, and other departments to promote a positive safety culture.Assist with emergency response planning and related safety activities.Perform other related safety, administrative, and technical duties as assigned.EMPLOYEE SAFETY AND COMPLIANCESafety is a core value at Orion. The HS&E Supervisor I is expected to:Take responsibility for their own personal safety and contribute to the safety of coworkers and others on Orion projects and facilities.Follow and help reinforce applicable safety laws, regulations, Company policies, and established safe work practices.Exercise Orion's Stop Work Authority whenever an unsafe condition or activity is observed.Promptly communicate identified hazards, incidents, injuries, and potential violations of Company safety policies or applicable regulations.Participate actively in safety meetings, training, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding Company, employee, and project information.POSITION REQUIREMENTSOrion is seeking an early-career safety professional who is interested in continuing to build their technical knowledge, field experience, and leadership capabilities within a construction environment.Preferred qualifications include:Approximately 1–3 years of safety, health, environmental, construction, industrial, military, or other relevant safety-related experience.An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred but not required where equivalent relevant experience is demonstrated.Previous experience within marine construction, heavy civil construction, concrete construction, industrial construction, or another field-based environment is preferred.Foundational knowledge of OSHA requirements, construction safety principles, hazard recognition, incident prevention, and safe work practices.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with craft professionals, Superintendents, Project Managers, and management.Ability and willingness to spend time in active field construction environments.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to use Microsoft Office applications and learn safety management systems such as Intelex.Interest in continued professional development within the HS&E field.A BCSP credential such as ASP, CHST, OHST, STS-C, CSP, or another applicable safety certification is preferred but not required at the time of hire. Candidates without an applicable credential may be expected to work toward an appropriate certification as they gain the necessary experience and eligibility.Orion recognizes that early-career professionals may not have experience in every area listed above. Candidates who have a strong safety foundation, relevant field experience, and a demonstrated willingness to learn and develop are encouraged to apply.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTSThe incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.This position requires regular interaction with active construction operations. The individual must be able to wear and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include a hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, respirators, high-visibility clothing, and other protective equipment appropriate to the work environment.The position may require walking active construction sites, working in outdoor environments, and responding appropriately to changing field conditions.The individual must be able to recognize safety concerns, communicate effectively with field and management personnel, and remain calm and responsive during emergency situations.CAREER DEVELOPMENTThe HS&E Supervisor I position is intended to provide a strong foundation for continued growth within Orion's HS&E organization.
