About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of prior experience in a large, urban hospital required. License: Active RN license required. Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred. Must-Have: - Experience in managing drips and utilizing EPIC charting system. - Must be nicotine-free. - Ability to float to various units as needed. - Experience in high acuity settings, especially with cardiovascular patients. Description: The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit is a specialized unit that provides care to patients with cardiovascular conditions. This intensive care unit features a 20-bed capacity and operates in a fast-paced environment. Staff members care for high acuity patients, including those with heart and lung transplants, ventricular assist devices, and ECMO patients. Nurse-patient ratios are maintained at 1:2-3 for both days and nights. Staff flexibility is essential as nurses must be prepared to float frequently to meet staffing needs. Travelers will be scheduled for weekends, requiring coverage for 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible shifts in a 4-week period. Holidays are also required, with a commitment to work 2 out of 3 major holidays. The unit is supported by interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Specialized skills required include ECMO care, management of ventilated patients, and titration of cardiac drips.
