Location: Pearland, Friendswood, Pasadena, Webster, Alvin, Missouri City, Brazoria and Galveson Counties

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) plays a vital role in supporting occupational therapists to help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. This position involves working directly with patients under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist to implement treatment plans tailored to individual needs. The OTA assists in evaluating patient progress and modifying therapeutic activities to maximize functional outcomes. By fostering a supportive and motivating environment, the OTA helps patients regain independence and improve their quality of life. This role requires compassionate communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient-centered care within diverse healthcare settings across the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current certification or licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of practice.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification.
• Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in diverse clinical settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, or schools.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation software.
• Additional certifications related to specialized therapy techniques or populations.
• Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.
• Continuing education in emerging occupational therapy practices and technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Assist occupational therapists in delivering therapeutic interventions and activities designed to improve patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising occupational therapist.
• Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure a safe and effective therapeutic environment.
• Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques and strategies to support continued progress outside of therapy sessions.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and contribute to comprehensive treatment planning.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to engage patients and collaborate with the healthcare team effectively. Critical thinking and observational skills are essential for monitoring patient responses and adapting therapeutic activities accordingly. Technical skills are applied when preparing treatment materials and using therapeutic equipment safely.
