Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner Medical Specialty is a licensed, certified, non‑physician health‑care provider who delivers direct patient care and has prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, priviledged, and billed as independent providers by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care under the supervising physician’s scope of practice and works in specialty clinics, potentially specializing in Palliative Care, Pulmonary, Infectious Disease, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Urology, Nephrology, Neurology, Hematology, Oncology, Allergy and Immunology, Rheumatology, or other medical specialties. Job Details Schedule: Monday‑Friday 8a‑5p

Essential Functions of the Role Assesses patients’ physical and mental condition through comprehensive or problem‑focused examinations and medical histories. Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health‑care needs. Prescribes or recommends medical drug therapies or other therapeutic treatments, performs procedures following approved protocols, and recommends interventions to change health‑risk behaviors. Formulates and implements patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence‑based medicine, and standards of care, collaborating with physicians and team members as needed. Counsels patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion, including medication side effects and interactions with food supplements, OTC medications, and herbal remedies. Maintains detailed records of treatment plans and outcomes, and initiates timely consultation and referral when scope of practice is exceeded. Provides consultation‑level services for conditions related to the provider’s specialty and training. Manages patients in settings other than the primary clinic (e.g., inpatient, emergency services, procedural.) Performs invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and proficiency as delegated by the supervising physician. May be required to perform patient‑care duties beyond the regular schedule to meet departmental coverage needs. Key Success Factors Knowledge of diagnostic techniques and treatment of human injuries, diseases, and deformities, including drug properties and interactions. Knowledge of values, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Critical thinking and complex problem‑solving skills. Proficiency in using computers and related software applications. Ability to develop and implement comprehensive outcomes‑based patient treatment plans. Ability to counsel patients concerning medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification. Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests. Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privilege from a state in the Nurse Licensure Compact for RNs and LVNs, and Texas APRN. Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer. Certification from an accredited board as an APRN for the patient population of focus required. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited program. Minimum 2 years of experience. Certification / License / Registration Nurse Practitioner (NP). Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
