Heat Treat Operator Level 1 2nd Shift

Located in Dillon South Carolina Wyman Gordon is a major industrial manufacturer serving a wide range of industries including aerospace power generation and industrial businesses.

Position Summary:

Level One : Level One: Working under direct supervision level one heat treat operators load and unload furnaces. Demonstrate the ability to correctly interpret Working Instructions to verify raw material lot control number basic print reading to verify part identification. Typically 0-1 years of Experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Obtain job assignments from supervisor or manager.
• Work safely in accordance to plant safety guidelines including cardinal rules of safety.
• Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
• Correctly access and interpret documentation (QMS etc.)
• Perform basic racking and loading of product (Furnaces)
• Meet area/product specific production standards
• Complete process and operation documentation (Traceability etc.)
• Operate overhead crane
• Adjust furnace controller patterns (Ignition)
• Prepare Thermocouples
• Work in a team environment i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition
• Perform daily housekeeping / 6S activities as required
• Maintains continuity among work shifts through verbal or documented communication for required actions irregularities and continuing needs.
• Operate 30K Forklift
• Performs other duties as requested by supervisor or manager.

Required Skills:

• The ability to perform basic shop math fractions decimals
• The ability to use basic inspection tools such micrometers
• The ability to navigate intranet to locate process documents - basic computer skills
• The ability to read and interpret work instructions and basic prints and dimensions
• Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others
• Attention to detail
• Basic English language skills and the ability to read follow and interpret planning and work order instructions
• Willingness to learn

Experience & Education

• High school diploma or GED
• 0 to 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment; prior military experience; or technical certification / degree

Working Conditions:

• Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
• Constant exposure to moderate noise
• Working conditions may include small spaces dust fumes odors hot / cold temperatures inside / outside noise vibration standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to work any shift including overtime weekends and holidays if scheduled.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
• Must be able to stand walk bend squat climb kneel twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve (12) hours.
• Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping pushing and pulling of materials.
• Must be able to safety operate an overhead crane.
• Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
• Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
• Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
• Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.
