Classroom Substitute

Summary:

A critical role to our organization’s classroom success, the Classroom Substitute will serve as the primary educator to children in the absence of regular classroom staff. Being naturally detail-oriented, you will embrace our steady work environment because it offers clear and well-defined expectations. As our Classroom Substitute , you will efficiently implement approved curriculum and perform other related functions of classroom staff easily due to your high standards for achieving quality results. Our organization, Ogden Weber Community Action Partnership (OWCAP) , is searching for a supportive and disciplined Classroom Substitute to join our team of service-oriented teachers to carry out consistent results in this critical learning environment.

What you’ll need to be our Classroom Substitute:

• Unselfish and approachable with a preference for detailed, skill-based work
• Accommodating and analytical, while producing highly precise and accurate work
• Patient, conscientious, relaxed and cooperative team worker
• High school diploma, GED or equivalency preferred

What you’ll do as the Classroom Substitute:  

• Plan; assist with implementation and evaluate daily, developmentally appropriate activities
• Provide quality teacher-child interactions and work on building trust relationships with all assigned children.
• Use developmentally appropriate behavior guidance and classroom management skills. Work with inter-disciplinary team
• Conduct family-style meal and snack times and ensure compliance with Head Start standards; USDA, Child Care Licensing, Caring for our Children National Standards
• Support in arrangement of classroom to provide safe, developmentally appropriate use; care for and maintain appearance and cleanliness of classroom
• Assess each child’s health status. Care for health and safety of children as established by the Head Start Standards; Child Care Licensing, Caring for our Children National Standards
• Ensure child safety by never leaving them alone.
• Support teacher’s role as leader of classroom team. Participate as a member of the classroom team. Communicate with team members to ensure functions of the classroom are met.
