Accounts Payable Manager

Job Description This role is responsible for managing the accounts payable (AP) administration functions within Intermountain Health, including accounting, supplier management, payment management, system maintenance, and auditing services. The role ensures payables activities follow U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (U.S. GAAP), maintains strong internal controls, oversees the AP payment process and SOPs, directs interactions with Business Applications or Digital Technology Services (DTS) to provide necessary functionality and security, manages the flow of AP information to auditors and internal customers, and leads hiring, training, and development of the AP administration team. Work Arrangement Monday – Friday standard business hours with additional hours occasionally required to support operational priorities, system implementations, audits, month‑end activities, or other critical objectives. This is a hybrid position. Essential Functions Enterprise‑wide leader of the centralized AP function, working closely with IH accounting managers, the Treasury department, auditors, DTS leadership, compliance leadership, SCO leadership, AP customers, vendors, and others. Oversee software and data initiatives with DTS, serve as liaison to ensure AP programming and support resources are used productively, direct implementation of new programs for efficiencies and automation, manage clean‑up of AP database errors, and serve as the data steward for AP data and access. Strengthen controls and adherence to policies, verify separation of duties, correct or eliminate “Out of Balance” situations, address disbursement‑related audit findings, update policies, ensure vendor verification, develop metrics for policy adherence, and monitor for fraud or unclaimed property issues. Coordinate with other departments and systems, including SCO and Materials Management, to define process flows and accountabilities, provide feedback to accounting managers, supply compliance leadership with conflict‑of‑interest research, and coordinate audit information for internal and external audits. Oversee supplier setup and maintenance, implement best practices for review/validation, manage government regulatory reporting (e.g., 1099, 1042S), and ensure compliance with all supplier‑related regulations. Lead hiring, performance management, and disciplinary processes for the team, provide accurate, timely feedback, ensure adequate staffing, and maintain quality indicators and standards, especially regarding customer service. Participate in developing and managing an operating and capital budget aligned with overall financial goals, and monitor department expenses. Perform other duties as assigned. Experience with project management required. Progressive AP or accounting experience required. Experience leading and managing a team preferred. Master’s degree in accounting or a related business field preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to see and read information and documents, and assess customer needs. Communication with others required. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers for precise computer use (typing, accessing information, etc.). Location Supply Chain Center, Midvale, Utah. Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 hours per week. Hourly Range $44.99 - $69.44 (actual rate depends on experience).
