.Net Power BI Developer

.Net Power BI Developer | Location: Onsite, Jackson, MS | Contract

We are seeking a highly skilled .NET / Power BI Developer to support application development, business intelligence, reporting, and modernization initiatives within a government agency. This role involves building enterprise applications, developing impactful Power BI dashboards, working with SQL-based data systems, and translating business requirements into effective technical solutions to enhance data visibility and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, enhances, and supports applications using C#, .NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core, and related Microsoft technologies to support agency operations.
• Builds APIs, integrations, and automated workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes.
• Enhances existing applications for performance, reliability, scalability, and usability, applying secure coding practices and role-based access controls.
• Supports application deployment, web server configuration, and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Designs, develops, and maintains Power BI dashboards, reports, datasets, semantic models, and visualizations to provide meaningful insights into agency performance and workload.
• Creates and optimizes data models, measures, and calculations using DAX and Power Query to support operational and executive dashboards.
• Improves existing reporting solutions by enhancing usability, visual design, data quality, and refresh reliability.
• Collaborates with stakeholders to define KPIs, reporting standards, and dashboard requirements, transforming complex data into clear, actionable business intelligence.
• Writes, optimizes, and troubleshoots SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects to support ETL processes, reporting automation, and data cleanup initiatives.
• Supports database performance troubleshooting, reporting issues, and data quality concerns, maintaining trusted reporting models with documented data sources and business logic.
• Gathers business requirements and translates them into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
• Documents applications, reports, technical processes, system changes, and support procedures.
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers and support personnel.
• Collaborates with MIS staff on technology initiatives, reporting maturity efforts, and data governance improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in application development and software engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET, and/or .NET Core.
• Extensive experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, and visualizations.
• Strong SQL development skills, including query optimization, stored procedures, and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing web applications, APIs, and system integrations.
• Experience supporting web applications and web server environments.
• Ability to analyze business requirements and deliver reliable, maintainable solutions.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership, IT staff, and end users.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior developers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within government, public sector, or large enterprise environments.
• Experience designing enterprise dashboards and business intelligence solutions.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Understanding of data governance, security, access controls, and reporting best practices.
• Experience supporting modernization, process improvement, and data analytics initiatives.
• Ability to work across multiple departments and translate business processes into technical requirements.
